What is TMT (Treadmill Test) or Cardiac stress test?

Treadmill test or cardiac stress test is a test to measure heart s capacity to bear external stress in form of exercise. It is one of the most commonly done tests in controlled clinical settings to diagnose ischemic heart disease and determine prognosis after myocardial infarction.

Patients are examined to see for pretest probability of becoming positive. Resting ECG is taken. They are explained about the gradual increase in speed and slope.
