Heat stroke treatment
Heat stroke is commonest manifestation in this heavy summer of Gujarat.
Heat exhaustion is usually accompanied by a fever no higher than 104 degrees Fahrenheit, excessive thirst, nausea, fainting, cool and clammy skin, weakness, muscle aches, heavy sweating, slow heartbeat and dizziness.
Heatstroke may develop following heat exhaustion if the condition is not treated. It is characterised by symptoms like
Throbbing headache.
Dizziness and light-headedness.
Lack of sweating despite the heat.
Red, hot, and dry skin.
Muscle weakness or cramps.
Nausea and vomiting.
Rapid heartbeat, which may be either strong or weak.
Rapid, shallow breathing.

Treatment includes immediate cooling down of patient, removal of excess clothes, administration of iv fluids and management of electrolytes and kidney dysfunction.
